Serious Police Work and SPW Newsletter
SPWNL was published from 1994 until #33 went out for Christmas, 2002. Before the newsletter, I published a regular fanzine, SPW, the first issue appearing in 1992 and the last and 12th issue, in 1996. Issues averaged from 24 to 48 pages. These contained articles on the characters, news clippings, fanfic and letters from fans. More than 1200 copies of the first issue were sent out, due mainly to an article in Sydney's Herald newspaper in February, 1993. More than a thousand letters were received from readers wanting copies over a three-month period. The work load became too much so I discontinued the fanzine, despite offers to turn it into a professional publication. This was due in part to the arrival of ETV, the magazine on emergency TV. ETV was a great publication while it lasted. Web sites have now made such publications redundant. The hard copy version of SPW newsletter has been put on hold for now. See the SPW page.

Early Fanzines

Details of print runs, number of issues published and any other information would be appreciated.

SERIOUS POLICE WORK
SIERRA OSCAR,
known as 'The only BILL letterzine'. Published in the UK by Jan Daniels. My only issue is 20, dated 1990. 18 pages, A4, photocopied. This issue Stephen Beckett was interviewed. There was a 'Bill' story-writing competition with 1st prize being the SUN HILL PLAQUE which adorned the original station, or maybe Mark 2, the one decimated by the bomb. Further issue 22 spotted.
THE BILL Sun Hill. Short story fanzine published by J Urquhart, possibly 1992. A4, printout and photocopied.
XMAS AT SUN HILL Short story fanzine published by J Urquhart, possibly 1992. A4, printout and photocopied.
ON THE BEAT. Published by Sarah Roper. The title also covered a fan club, run by Sarah, and possibly Leanne Palmer. Many of the birthdates above came from this source. At least 5 issues, from the mid-1990s. A4, photocopied.
